ABOUT
Marabou Essentials offers jewellery including earrings, neck pieces and rings made from various materials such as painted wood, fabric and rope.
The earring range includes studs, hoops, dangly earrings, while the neckpieces include statement pieces, pendants and stacked pieces.
Our jewellery is handcrafted and hand painted, making each piece unique. The designs reflect African aesthetic elements mixed with contemporary fashion trends.
Marabou Essentials celebrates the freedom for individuality as well as the artistry in fashion. The accessories are inspired by the African aesthetic- the prominence of daring colours, the distinctiveness of bold prints and the inventiveness of intricate patterns. The designs are influenced by clean lines, bold shapes and elegant curves.
Marabou Essentials exists to cater to the need for individuals to feel confident and to be unflinching in their own uniqueness through the art they adorn themselves with. It is for this reason that we say be bold, be beautiful, be uniquely you.
We are all about self-love, self-care and self-expression. We remind you that you are loved, you are worthy and you deserve nice things!
Some work is created ready-made and some is created bespoke and tailored for individuals’ personal needs. Some ready-made accessories are purposely made exclusive so that there is only a few of the same kind; this ensures distinctiveness and a sense of individuality.
MEET THE EXHIBITOR
Marabou Essentials is the brainchild of Fentse Mokale who was born and raised in Phokeng- a village in the North West province of South Africa. Fentse is the designer and lead creative within the brand. The whole idea of Marabou Essentials came from Fentse’s desire to make a mark in the world through the use of her creativity. Her accessories are individual pieces of art inspired by her travels, the connection with the people she meets as well as her belief that stories need to be told. Her love of art and design, her belief in the importance of storytelling and her drive to make new, inspiring and adventurous designs come alive into elaborate creations that fuel what is now Marabou Essentials.
Artisans from Diverse Backgrounds: Fentse collaborates with women and youth from various backgrounds within the community, providing them with opportunities to learn and work and create. These artisans are trained to create products, especially in painting and assembling jewellery, allowing them to gain valuable skills.
