Purchasing a Yem-b product weaves you into our fabric of hope and self-worth, benefiting those who truly deserve it.
Our mission is to dismantle the misconceptions about the design and quality of local crafts. We achieve this by blending traditional crafting methods with post-industrial textile waste, resulting in unique, high-quality handmade items.
Our collection includes fashion accessories and home décor items, featuring crochet, weaving, hand-stitched leather, sewing, embroidery, and more.
The design journey is a collaborative effort of skills, talent, and bravery. Witnessing our artisans find their path in this journey fuels our drive to continually challenge the limits in all our endeavors.
Why we exist?
Knoop Academy NPC and Yem-b were founded on the belief that dedicated artisans can transform their lives through their innate talents. Our hearts swell with pride when we witness these artisans applying the business skills we've imparted to them to seize new entrepreneurial ventures.
For numerous artisans, our faith in their abilities preceded their own. Their extraordinary creativity and skill continue to inspire us. Our mission is make them realise their own potential.
At Yem-b, we foster a sense of responsibility and optimism. We don't just teach; we nurture the inherent talent within our artisans, empowering them to become independent, responsible, and inspirational individuals.
MEET THE EXHIBITOR
Motivated by years of observing incredible creative talent and skill that remained unrecognized due to the absence of access to viable, lasting markets, Brenda Scheepers established Yem-b in 2023. This venture was in collaboration with Knoop Academy NPC and Tholakele Mseleku, a veteran crochet instructor at the academy.
A dedicated group of artisans, have been empowered to meet the demands of delivery and upholding the quality we have become known for. They convene every Friday for what is affectionately termed "Creative Fridays." They call themselves "Team Courageous Creativity," and as their confidence grows, so does their flair for design and the natural development of peer-led quality control.
Yem-b isn't just a business with directors and shareholders; it's a collective endeavor made possible by brave, inventive, responsible, and autonomous crafters who have recognized their potential. As stakeholders, we are honored to accompany them on their path.
