DESIGN AFRIKA specializes in finely crafted hand-woven basketry and has over many years developed close relationships with rural weaving communities, successfully marketing their work to ensure that these traditional skills are not lost.

Founder Binky Newman designs innovative and market-driven products that have relevance in both contemporary and traditional interiors.

“We don’t want to lose the traditional culture; we want to maintain the heritage and build on it,” says Binky.  Alongside contemporary products, Design Afrika also supplies a collection of traditional baskets and collectibles from Zambia, Uganda, Namibia, Botswana, Rwanda, and many other African countries.

The range at SARCDA Christmas 2019 shows a black, white and natural palette, accented with more neutral tones, and includes wall baskets, bags, tables, and more.
