Anna Rosholt is a contemporary jewellery working in Cape Town. Her love of beautiful design and her quirky taste inspire her work, and her serious attention to detail and quality are the outstanding features of her jewellery.
Her first range, the Beetle collection, was inspired by the African Dung Beetle, a Scarab Beetle. Scarabs are members of a worldwide family of tenacious, strong, and beautiful beetles, some of which can move objects over a thousand times their own weight. The ancient Egyptians were captivated by Scarabs, wearing them as amulets for protection and worshipping a Scarab-headed sun god, Khepri. They believed that at the end of every day the sun would enter the ground and travel from west to east, undergoing a mysterious metamorphosis. The next morning it would rise transformed and rejuvenated. Similarly, the Scarab would enter the earth at nightfall with his dung ball and reappear transformed and rejuvenated the following day. She wanted the range to be as beautiful and striking as these beetles, and to celebrate them as symbols of African luxury.
Her most recent collection, the Rhino range, was created in aid of a cause that is very close to her heart. 10% of all sales from the range are donated to the Black Mambas Anti Poaching Unit. The unit covers the entire Balule area, and is the first of its kind, being that the majority of the teams are women! Anna hopes to be able to contribute meaningfully to this worthy cause and gain awareness. For more info visit - www.blackmambas.org.
