ENTO Ceramics produces a range of fine, functional crockery and fabric, uniquely decorated with images inspired by nature in Southern Africa - plants, insects, animals and other icons of our landscape.
The business was established in 2003 by Dr Tanza Crouch, artist and professional entomologist - someone who studies and applies their knowledge of insects.
The beauty of South Africa and the extraordinary diversity of our culture and wildlife provide never-ending inspiration for patterns and design in art. ENTO Ceramics strives to bring nature into your home, through durable images on porcelain and china. We use both local and imported ceramics (Maxwell & Williams) as a base. The designs are silk-screened in on-glazes so you can take pleasure, daily, in using these products. They are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Each ceramic item is unique - Tanza and Nomanesi Mboyisa, her studio assistant, arrange designs by hand, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. They work from her studio in an indigenous garden in the leafy suburb of Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal.
Our products are not mass produced and as a result you will find them in only the most special of homes.
ENTO ceramics products include functional tableware (teapots, mugs, jugs, sugar bowls, platters and more) with a complementary range of soft furnishings in matching designs (cushions, tablecloths and runners).
More than 60 designs have been produced over the past 14 years. Many of these are still in production and are as old as the business! SARCDA 2017 sees the release of three new designs: Rhino, Meerkats and Katydids (Bush Crickets). Something for the conservation-minded, something for the wildlife enthusiast and something for the adventurous.
